HIT 'M HI: High Interest Technology Motivating Handwriting Instruction
Friday, October 19, 2007 3:30 pm - 4:30 pm
Students with autism, fine motor, or motor planning deficits often have great difficulty with the acquisition of handwriting. This presentation will discuss the prerequisites and instructional sequence of handwriting. A simple technique using technology to modify handwriting instruction will be demonstrated. This method helps motivate students and helps them to be successful. Using Boardmaker software, the participants will see how to create their own highly motivating and individualized handwriting instruction worksheets. This method is most beneficial for students who are unable to use the "look and copy" method to learn to write.
